NYX Eye Shadow Base vs. NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil

Hey! 😉
Yeah, again another NYX product review..But this time it’s going to be a comparison between two white eye shadow bases that maybe can help you decide which one you would prefer.

NYX Eye Shadow Base & NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil

Short description of both products
NYX Eye Shadow Base: this product provides you a nice white base that not only will help your eye shadow stay on longer, but also will make your eye shadows look more vibrant. There are 6g of product inside and it’s a good amount. These eye shadow bases come in 4 shades – white, white pearl, skin tone (which is too dark for me) and black. Price in the website: 7$

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil:  this product you can use instead of an eye shadow or below eye shadow to make it more visible and pigmented. They come in 33 colorful shades so you will definitely find a shade for yourself. And the pencil form is very handy and easy to sharpen it without ruining the product. Amount: 5g. Price in the website: 4.50$

NYX Eye Shadow Base vs. NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil
•
Consistency: Eye shadow base is creamy, but not as creamy as the Jumbo pencil. At the beginning eye shadow base is creamy, but once blended it dries quite a bit (what you would wish from bases). Jumbo Pencil is creamier and because of that – easier to apply and blend. Once blended it still feels a bit creamy, so I personally avoid using this pencil alone and apply an eye shadow on top to lock it in place.

• Longevity: In the way I use these products, eye shadow base definitely holds up more than Jumbo pencil, because of it’s consistency.

• Application: I would say that it’s easier to use pencil version than products in a tube. With a pencil you can easily apply a coat on your eye lid, inner tear duct and even waterline (it holds there pretty ok). For base you will need a brush if you have longer nails or you are doing makeup on anyone else.

To sum up: both of these products you can use as an eye shadow bases. If you have oily lids, I would suggest you to take the eye shadow base + set it with a skin color eye shadow. If you don’t have oily eyelids you can get any of them 🙂 Also, it depends on the way you prefer application. If we compare the price to amount of product – Jumbo pencil is cheaper and with more product for such price. I personally use the eye shadow base as a base all over the eye, but Jumbo pencil more to the lid, inner tear duct and waterline.

I hope it was somehow useful and see you in my next post 😉 Have a great working week ahead 😉
